Weekly Weigh-in (2/27/11)

So, as you all know we were in Georgia during the weigh-in that was supposed to occur last week. So I decided to wait until today to do my next weigh-in. Keep in mind with the stats that they are 2 weeks worth of loss and not the normal 1 week.

I didn't really get a chance to exercise this week. It was a little hard settling back into our routines. I'm hoping maybe this week I can get back to my Jillian Michael's workout dvd.

What I did focus on this week was eating.. constantly. I eat within an hour of waking up, and then every 1 1/2 to 2 hours (right up until I go to bed). I am also zig-zagging my calories to confuse my body. Therefore I may eat 1100 one day and 1400 the next. That way my body isn't really sure what's going on and doesn't get complacent. But don't let those low amount of calories fool you, I seriously eat all day long. I'm also drinking about a gallon of water a day. I would definitely like to maintain that this week.

I am also really geeked because my waist is in the 30's now!! Now onto the stats..

So here are the stats in comparison to last week (2/13/11).

  • 4 lb lost (bringing total to 30 lbs lost)

Inches lost: total of 3 1/2 (since 2/13/11)

  • 1/2 inch from chest
  • 1 inch from hips
  • 1 inch from waist
  • 1 inch from thighs (1/2 inch from each thigh)

Postponed Weigh-in

I just wanted to let you all know, in case you missed it on facebook, that I have postponed this week's weigh-in. We didn't get home from GA until really late on Monday and I was going to do my weigh-in for Tuesday. But, since Jeremiah lives out of a hotel most of our eating was done at restaurants and as a result I felt like a walking blimp from all the water retention from the excess salt. I figured any weight I would have had would not have been accurate due to the swelling I had. So, rather than give myself a heart attack I would start anew and back on schedule on Sunday. Today is Thursday and I feel pretty confident that all of the excess water is gone. I really look forward to my weigh-in on Sunday. And I think since it will have been 2 weeks since my last weight that I should be down a little bit. So, stay tuned for my update on Sunday.

Weekly Weigh-in (2/13/11)

So this was the first week I vowed to only weigh on Sundays. I was a little anxious the whole week wondering if I would have made any progress.

I stayed within my caloric limit all week and was able to excercise for 30 minutes 5 days this week. My thighs are killing me, but I feel better overall.

So here are the stats in comparison to last week (2/6/11).

  • 1 lb lost (bringing total to 26 lbs lost)

Inches lost: total of 5 1/2 (since 2/6/11)

  • 1 inch from chest
  • 1 inch from waist
  • 1/2 inch from hips
  • 3 inches from upper arms (1 1/2 inches from each arm)

So although I only lost 1 lb, I know I'm dropping inches and that makes me feel good.

I'm going to keep up with several days of excercise, but I will need to give myself rest days each week. It's harder doing this now than before I had a child. He drains me completely. I'm on my way though and I feel good about this week's progress.

Joseph and I will be on vacation from Friday-Monday, and I know it will be harder to stay within my caloric limits, but I am pretty sure I can do it. Since we will be on vacation next weekend, I will update on Tuesday the 22nd.

Red Dress

So, I've been using pictures of really just my face to show my weight loss progression. I know that will only work so long. So, I've decided to go a little further. I have a dress, that although I can squeeze myself into, does not fit. It is a size 16. That's a size I haven't been able to comfortably wear since well before our wedding. Even my wedding dress was a size 18. This dress you will see me photographed in has been put in my 'donate' pile several times. My husband always pulls it out and says something along the lines of, "Keep this, I like it." I actually have never fit into the dress. When I bought it, I thought someday I would fit into it, but that was years and years ago. But, I've hung onto it, because I know he likes it, and what girl doesn't want to wear something that they know their husband really likes?

So, I will be using photos of me in this dress to depict my weight loss journey. When I finally get the dress to fit properly I will have to come up with a new idea, but for now here are the pics. Each week I will use one of these first pics along side the newest pic of me in it as a comparison. All of these pics were taken today, and are of me at a weight loss of 25lbs (87 lbs left to lose). I will take a new pic next week to compare.

This is me at 25 lbs down. Still have about 87 lbs to go to get to my goal weight. Well on my way though!

February 2011

I've been working on this blog for awhile. It's been hard lately to find time to blog. It's even harder because of have so many things floating around in my head, and trying to find a way to get them all down at once is hard. So as is the norm for me, this blog will be a mish mash of stuff.

Firstly, let me talk about my weight loss. I'd like to share a pic with you. This picture is the one of I have closest to my heaviest weight before I seriously began this journey.

And here is my most recent pic of my weight loss. In the next pic I am down about 18 lbs. Keep in mind I am now down 25 lbs though and will hopefully be able to post a new pic reflecting that (or more) weight loss sometime this week or next.

It's hard work to keep focused and stay committed to this goal, but every day I get a little bit closer. I've also begun to keep track of my inches lost so stay tuned for an update about that sometime soon.

One thing that has helped in maintaining my accountability is this website here. It's been pretty helpful and informative. I would suggest checking it out if you are trying to lose or maintain your weight. I have about 87 lbs left to lose to get to the weight that I would like to be. I know my goal may have to be pushed back if we get pregnant. But I am completely okay with that. I know my body is already healthier than it was when we conceived Joseph.

As most of you know from the time that Jeremiah left at the beginning of January we had about 14 weeks left of his training. We planned a visit at about week 7. That way we could see each other at the half way point. The day for Joseph and I to leave for Georgia is fast approaching. This will be Joseph's 5th airplane ride. I know he'll do well. I've been trying to prepare him for the trip. I'm a little bit nervous. When we flew before it was one toddler up against two parents. Now it's one toddler against one parent. I'm sure I have nothing to worry about though. We will get to spend about 4 days with Jeremiah. And I think it's safe to say all 3 of us are excited.

Joseph was pretty sick for a big chunk of January. He subsequently had a seizure and had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. I am thankful to say that he seems over the worst of his illness, and is back to his normal self. I am thankful for the the thoughts, prayers, and ways that friends and family extended themselves to help me during this tough time.

Life is hard, but good right now. We're clicking down the days until Jeremiah will be home again. I'm learning everyday how to be a better wife and mother. And everyday I come a little bit closer to the weight I'd like to see on the scale. To quote a great song, "life ain't always beautiful, but it's a beautiful ride." I couldn't agree more.
